Cuvee 8 "assemblage 4 cepages nobles" 2013

This wine is named after the arrival of the 8th generation at the Domaine, Mélanie, who created this wine. Notably trained at Château Cheval Blanc, it was there that she discovered "assemblage" and put into practice when she returned home. This wine is an assemblage of the four noble grapes of Alsace: Riesling, Pinot Gris, Gewurztraminer and Muscat, and the exact blend of this wine is a family secret! The Riesling, Gewurztraminer and Muscat (Ottonel variety) come from pebbly clay and limestone soil on a calcareous mother rock. The Pinot Gris grows on clayey deep hillsides, ideal for Pinot grapes. Vinification The grapes were hand-picked between 18th September and 1st October 2009 and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. The wine was then aged on fine lees for 11 months until bottling on August 30th 2010. The closure is vinolok, which preserves the classic Alsace florality and freshness for longer.
